Landscape Actions (LAs) are large scale environmental actions that will focus on issues such as invasive species management, controlling encroaching scrub on species rich grassland, supporting priority species/habitats and water quality protection. These types of actions are generally beyond the scope for individual farmers to address but have many benefits for the community and the environment at large.
It is the CP Teams (such as us here at ACRES Burren Aran) rather than advisors who will prepare these plans with the participating farmer. Not every farm will need a landscape action plan. Where a plan is developed, the actions are funded from a separate budget.
The first LA window is now open. The window is due to close in September. Further opportunities for LAs will be available in 2026.
The first priorities for the Burren Aran CP zone in the Clare / Galway areas are works on commonages, traditional dry-stone wall rebuild, water actions and control of invasive species and encroaching scrub on species rich grassland.

The first priorities for the Aran Islands include works on commonages, traditional dry-stone wall rebuild, water actions and control of encroaching scrub on species rich grassland.
The Burren Aran CP Team will take Expressions of Interest from both farmer participants and from farm advisors. All proposals will be logged, reviewed & prioritised. Following this, the CP Team will contact participants in August to discuss any potential plans.
Feel free to call us to log interest or discuss Landscape Actions in the ACRES Burren Aran area.
